All American Aussies is a small kennel that is just starting out. This blog is mainly for pictures and the day to day happenings of some truly remarkable dogs.
Many people don’t know where Australian Shepherds come from or even what they are. Actually, Aussies are 100% American made; created by cow herders and farmers in the western states during the Gold Rush. The Australian part of the name dog breeders and historians (I know, it’s weird to have dog historians) think came from dogs in Australia that were exceptional at the herding and tracking abilities and were bred with other types of dogs in America to get the amazing dogs we have today.
I’m not going to bore you with the full out details of the history of the Aussie but let me tell you it is definitely worth looking into. There are some awesome websites and some well researched books out there that go into great detail on how these oddly colored dogs came about.
